If cell signal drops mid-session, the app keeps recording and buffers telemetry on the phone, then replays it the moment signal returns. The Black Box also logs every sample to its Micro SD card at full resolution as a backstop.
GBC’s connectivity is built for the unpredictable trackside environment. The Black Box streams to the GBC app over Bluetooth Low Energy, and the app sends that data on over your phone’s cellular connection in small batches every few seconds — live to the pit wall, your race engineer and your session history.
When signal drops, nothing is lost: the app buffers telemetry on the phone and replays it automatically once the connection returns, and the Black Box logs every sample to its Micro SD card at full resolution, which can be imported afterwards for a complete session record.
Because the Black Box needs no SIM card or data plan of its own, there’s nothing extra to set up — the low-power Bluetooth link at the car and the phone you already carry are all it takes. It’s reliable, resilient, and purpose-built for the unpredictable environment of the racetrack.
Telemetry is sent as compact packets: values rounded to the precision that matters, fast-changing channels separated from slow ones. A session uses little cellular data.
